Clinical Center Drug Donations

Overview

The Clinical Center In-Kind Drug Donation Program provides pharmaceuticals that are donated through the public-private partnership coordinated by the FNIH to the NIH Clinical Center—the nation’s largest hospital entirely devoted to clinical Research. These donations help free up NIH resources to support new and cutting edge Research. Approximately 1,600 studies are in progress at the Clinical Center and most are “first-in-human” Phase I and Phase II clinical trials. More than 500,000 patients, from all 50 states and throughout the world, have participated in clinical Research at the Clinical Center since it opened in 1953.
