Developing the new measures is particularly critical given the need for new medicines to treat emerging drug-resistant strains of these infections, which have been on the rise around the world.

The FNIH today announced that the Sports and Health Research Program (SHRP) is seeking NIH grant proposals from experts in the field to study the detection, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of sports-related brain injuries. Wallace Professor of Immunobiology and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator at Yale University School of Medicine, has been awarded the inaugural Lurie Prize in the Biomedical Sciences for seminal discoveries related to the innate immune system, the human body’s first line of defense against invading organisms which cause infection.
