One of the foundation’s earliest and largest capital programs, construction of the Edmond J. Safra Family Lodge was and is regarded as the anchor to our family-programs portfolio. The lodge provides a safe, convenient, and comfortable home-away-from-home—free of charge—for the families of adult patients receiving treatment at the NIH Clinical Center.  The beautifully appointed $9.6 million lodge offers 34 guest rooms, family gathering areas including living room, dining room, kitchen, playroom, library, exercise room and telecommuting facilities, which allow families to manage their home and business lives during their time at NIH.

 This project was funded by the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation and many other generous donors. While ongoing operations of the lodge are supported directly by NIH, other necessary programs are not. The foundation offers a variety of opportunities to support the Edmond J. Safra Family Lodge.
