Best Pharmaceuticals for Children
The Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act of 2002 provided for the testing of drugs that had been approved for adult use and that are used to treat children, but had not been tested for children. In 2004, the Foundation for NIH raised $4 million to support the study of two on-patent drugs used in the pediatric population. Those studies, overseen by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, are currently underway.
