Cardiology Associates Foundation (Jonesboro, AR)
The Cardiology Associates Foundation (CAF) conducted events such as heart health screenings, conferences and workshops, and health fairs to educate underserved women on heart disease risk factors, prevention, and treatment. The CAF used Red Dress Pins, Heart Truth Speaker's kits, and many other pieces of the campaign's educational literature. Additionally, CAF has developed a partnership with the local ABC affiliate KAIT-8 for a program called "In the Red,” promoting the CAF’s programs and events, providing educational awareness pieces on women and heart disease throughout the year, and keeping information streamlined on the KAIT Region 8 Web site.
The Links Foundation, Inc. (Washington, D.C.)
The Links Foundation, Inc. used its signature program, HeartLinks to Heart Health to reach underserved African American women to increase awareness of risk factors for heart disease, and effect behavioral change. Eight Links chapters across the United States served as local program sites. Each chapter used The Heart Truth®™ educational materials and messaging. The chapters also conducted a minimum of eight sessions of the NHLBI’s With Every Heartbeat Is Life community education program and two heart health screening events. Follow-up evaluation will be conducted six months post intervention.
National Latina Health Network (Miami, FL)
The National Latina Health Network conducted education sessions that incorporated Heart Truth®™ materials and its own Su Corazón, Su Vida curriculum. NLHN partnered with Sembrando Flores, a local, Miami-based social services center, to train five leaders to facilitate a Spanish-speaking heart health education curriculum. The leaders identified and trained over 100 Latinas to become Heart Health Ambassadors. These Ambassadors, who agreed to modify at least one personal health behavior in their everyday lives, were then celebrated in a community-wide event that showcased the healthy lifestyle changes learned during this eight month program.
