The Foundation supports the mission of
the NIH, to develop new knowledge through biomedical research.
The Foundation fosters collaborative relationships in education,
research, and related activities between NIH, industry.
Our programs reflect NIH priorities to enhance clinical
research through education and training opportunities, provide
an environment conducive to research innovation and discovery,
to translate research findings to the benefit of patients,
improve access to sophisticated research resources.
The Foundation is committed to encouraging biomedical education
and training, providing education and training opportunities
for the investigators of tomorrow, for students in the laboratory
as well as in the clinical research arena. The Foundation
also invests in educational programs about medical research.
Fellowship programs provide educational opportunities for scholars of all levels, enabling them to train in biomedical research at the NIH.
The Foundation provides leadership and support for the premier
research environment for the NIH through innovative research
iniatives; providing the scientific and technological resources
required for solving persistent health challenges; helping
support scientists to find novel approaches in disease prevention,
diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation also helps NIH identify and resolve barriers to translating
basic research into clinical practice by helping identify
critical questions that are of the highest priority for
clinical investigation.
The Foundation is committed to providing NIH with state-of-the-art
technology, equipment, and tools necessary to help advance
medicine and human health through 21st century research.
The Foundation supports the "bricks-and-mortar" component
of research by funding multiple building projects through
public-private partnerships.
