The Genetic Association Information Network (GAIN) Steering Committee, and the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health are pleased to announce the GAIN Analysis Workshop III, to be held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown hotel on November 10-11, 2008. The meeting will begin at noon on Monday the 10th and conclude late afternoon on the 11th. We have deliberately chosen these dates and this venue to take advantage of your potential attendance at the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) meeting, which will begin on the evening of Tuesday November 11th at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The Marriott is one of the central hotels for the ASHG event and is connected to the Convention Center. Call for Abstracts: The GAIN Analysis Workshop III will bring together the primary investigators and data analysts from the GAIN studies with genetics and data analysis experts from the scientific community to present and analyze data from these studies. By this November we expect that data from all the GAIN studies will have been available for at least eight months, and we expect a good deal of dialogue and presentation on initial findings from analysis of these data. Data from several of the studies may still be subject to the embargo period under the GAIN Publication Policy, which reserves the right to publicly disseminate findings using GAIN data for the original GAIN Principal Investigators for a period of nine months from the date of release of the datasets through the GAIN Database on dbGaP. In order to encourage as much discussion as possible on this important research, the GAIN PIs have agreed to waive this restriction for presentations made AT THIS MEETING ONLY. We are therefore inviting interested investigators who wish to present results of research using the GAIN datasets to submit a brief abstract of their proposed presentations prior to the meeting so that we can help ensure a robust and relevant program for the meeting. We would appreciate you using the enclosed form below, which may be e-mailed or faxed to Ms. Cheryl Melencio at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health at or (fax) 301-402-1661. (Please confirm receipt of faxed abstracts by calling Cheryl at 301-402-4970). We anticipate having a room to display posters on the first afternoon of the meeting (Monday, November 10th, 2008). Abstracts may be selected for either oral (PowerPoint) presentation during the course of the meeting or poster presentation on the afternoon/evening of the November 10th, 2008. Posters should follow ASHG format outlined in the document below.
