Stephen E. Straus Distinguished Lecture in the Science of Complementary and Alternative Medicine
The Stephen E. Straus Distinguished Lecture in the Science of Complementary and Alternative Medicine series was established to honor Dr. Straus, the founding director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (1996-2006). This series brings leading figures in science and medicine to the NIH to speak about their perspective on the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). The lectures shed light on the evolution of CAM practice and research, and the current use of CAM by the public.
The 2012 lecture occurred December 5, 2012 from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. in Lipsett Amphitheater, Building 10 at the NIH in Bethesda, MD. It featured David G. I. Kingston, Ph.D., University Distinguished Professor, Bioorganic and Natural Products Chemistry at Virginia Tech. As part of the day’s program, a poster session highlighting the work of NCCAM-funded investigators was presented. The poster session and reception was held from 10-11 a.m. in the Southeast Patio, also in the Clinical Center, following Dr. Kingston’s lecture.
