Associate Director, Major Gifts and Annual Giving

 

The Foundation for NIH (FNIH) seeks a dynamic, energetic, and organized individual with excellent oral and written communications skills to oversee the foundation’s growing major gift and annual giving programs. 

The Associate Director, Major Gifts and Annual Giving is responsible for developing and directing the foundation’s major gift and annual giving programs, building on existing efforts to secure support from individuals, corporations, and other audiences, in order to meet annual funding goals and build toward longer-term financial targets. 

Working with the Director of Partnership Development and foundation leadership, the incumbent will design and implement a major gift plan, including donor cultivation, giving, and recognition programs, and will identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects from both within and outside the Foundation’s existing donor base.  The Associate Director will also oversee the Foundation’s annual giving program.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment and involves everyday risks or discomforts which requires normal safety precautions when operating equipment and performing the work. Work is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying items under 25 pounds such as books, papers, small parcels, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Work requires a Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

  1. Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible fund-raising experience with a focus on major gifts;
  2. Experience working with or overseeing an annual giving program;
  3. Ability to work effectively with staff, partners and the public;
  4. Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information;
  5. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and with careful attention to detail;
  6. Ability to deal with others, using tact and diplomacy;
  7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and
  8. Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Word, Excel.

None.
