| "Big Picture" Management and Partnership
Typical projects of the Foundation for NIH rely on input from a diverse group of stakeholders, for example several scientific disciplines or from academe, government, philanthropy, and private companies. For these initiatives the Foundation for NIH serves as a catalyst for scientific cooperation, helping to create an atmosphere of teamwork and a “big picture” framework for discovery and implementation of new science. Many of the projects undertaken by the Foundation for the NIH would never have gotten off the ground outside of the foundation’s partnership and funding model.
Large, collaborative projects are increasingly critical to achieve breakthroughs in genomics, structural biology, proteomics, bioinformatics, medical diagnostics and, importantly, to reduce barriers to global health.
