Ann Ashby, M.B.A.
Prior to joining the Foundation for the NIH, Ms. Ashby worked in academic medicine for 20 years, serving in a number of roles that included Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration and Assistant Dean for Strategic Planning at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Executive Director for the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
She also worked for a number of years as Treasurer and Vice President for Finance for Triad Investors, a Baltimore, Maryland, seed stage venture capital and technology transfer company that specialized in biotechnology investments. One of Triad’s better known investments was the cloned sheep, Dolly.
Prior to moving to Baltimore, Ms. Ashby spent 10 years in executive level positions in higher education finance, administration and strategic planning at the University of North Florida and at the Florida Community College at Jacksonville. She has served as a financial and strategic planning consultant to a number of non-profit organizations.
Ms. Ashby has a BA degree in Political Science and a Masters in Business Administration. She lives with her husband in the Washington, DC area and has a grown son in Annapolis, Maryland.
