Nina K. Solarz

Mrs. Solarz has taught political science at Nina Solarz, BOD memberBrooklyn College; served as Mayor Ed Koch’s representative in Washington, DC; and was the director of public affairs for the Select Commission on Immigration and Refugee Policy during the Reagan administration.

“I have spent my entire career working for non-profit organizations. I think I can use my experience to support and enhance the important work of the FNIH,” says Mrs. Solarz. “I am also intent upon thanking the NIH physicians, researchers, nurses, and providers for the incredible care they gave my husband [former Congressman Stephen Solarz], and so many other patients in every way I can.”

“After spending her career in political science and government, Nina is well suited to serve on the FNIH board,” according to Charles A. Sanders, MD, FNIH chairman. “She has served as executive director for Peace Links and Fund for Peace and has been a devoted volunteer of the FNIH.”

“Nina has been a good friend and supporter of the FNIH for many years,” according to FNIH’s Board Vice Chairman, The Honorable John Edward Porter. “Her willingness to serve is a testament to her devotion to advancing human health.”

Mrs. Solarz volunteers her time to additional non-profit and charitable organizations, including the International Crisis Group and the American Friends of Turkey.
