Mrs. Lily Safra and her late husband, Edmond, a well-known international banker and philanthropist, founded the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation, which supports research seeking a cure for Parkinson's disease. Mrs. Safra continues to oversee this foundation and serves on the boards of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Somerset House Arts Fund, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Mrs. Safra is also honorary chair of the International Sephardic Education Foundation
