REQUIREMENTS FOR DNA SAMPLES

GAIN Contributing Study Investigators are providing the genotyping vendors with genomic DNA from blood or cell lines, along with information on the sex of each sample donor.  For samples with sufficient DNA (20 - 50 micrograms), no whole-genome amplification is needed.  If less DNA is available, then at least 5 micrograms, and preferably 6 micrograms, are needed, and the genotyping vendors will need to perform whole-genome amplification on those samples.  A subset of the samples are checked initially to assess whether the DNA quality is sufficient for whole-genome genotyping.
