ANALYSIS  METHODOLOGY GROUP

The Analysis Methodology Group (AMG) is a collaborative group of analysts and Principal Investigators (PIs) across the GAIN initiative whose role will be to suggest analyses to be conducted across multiple projects and common approaches to analyses within each project as needed to enhance comparability. It will consist of an analyst from each study chosen for participation in GAIN, as well as external analysts invited by the GAIN PIs and Steering Committee.

Members of the AMG and members of the scientific community are invited to participate in three analysis workshops. The first of these workshops was held on November 29 -30, 2006, with the second workshop currently scheduled for October 17-18, 2007. (see Analysis Workshops) A third workshop is anticipated for the 1st Quarter of 2008. The goals of the workshops are to review current experience with genome-wide association (GWA) studies completed or in progress to: 1) identify particularly powerful designs and methods of analysis for GWA studies; 2) identify potential pitfalls in design and analysis of GWA studies and ways of avoiding them; 3) propose new approaches to GWA data analysis, and design or analysis modifications needed to implement them; and 4) identify needs for methodological development in design and analysis of GWA data.
